At the state level, the Chapter's Legislative Committee identifies bills of interest to the social work profession during each legislative session. Our contract lobbyist (paid with NASW-CO member dues) helps the committee follow these bills through the legislative process and advocate in the best interest of social workers throughout the state. NASW Colorado may also propose legislation if a need is identified within the social work community.
NASW Colorado would like to encourage all members to advocate for the profession of social work and our clients by being informed and involved in the legislative process. Social Workers’ experience in the field is an invaluable asset to the chapter and its legislative efforts. Please contact the Legislative Committee with any questions or concerns, or if you would like to get involved. You might also consider joining the Chapter Legislative Committee Listserve by making a request to the Chapter Office.
