CSCSW January Salon - "Utilizing Solution Focused Brief Therapy Techniques in Cases Management"

Presented by Heather Kanapackis, LCSW

Summary
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is an evidence based practice that has been utilized in a broad range of settings including in therapy, schools, doctor’s offices, supervision, and beyond! Developed by Insoo Kim Burg and Steve de Shazer in the early 1980s at the Milwaukee Brief Family Therapy Center, this therapy model has since been widely researched and found to be effective with clients across the lifespan. In 2019, the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 helpline conducted a randomized control study in utilizing Solution Focused Brief Therapy techniques in care consultations which resulted in more collaborative goals and callers feeling more confident that the interaction would help them accomplish the change they are seeking. In this presentation you’ll learn about the theory and techniques behind these positive results and how to apply them to your own case management practice!   2 CEUs.
