Practice Standards Committee

NASWCO Chapter 0 8341

Location: Virtual via Zoom

The purpose of the Committee on Practice Standards is to examine areas of all social work practice and develop guidelines of ethical conduct. This committee does not function in lieu of the NASW-CO Ethics Committee, but rather in addition to such a committee. The Committee on Practice Standards focuses on areas in which standards of practice have not been developed, as well as areas where questions may have come forth regarding unclear interpretations of existing standards. The committee may issue advisory opinions regarding the practice of social work.

Private Practice Group

NASWCO Chapter 0 3084

The Private Practice Group focuses on the business management and administrative aspects of developing and operating a privately owned clinical social work practice. The group's goal is to provide tips, guidance, professional resources, collegial support, and positive encouragement surrounding the successes and challenges of starting and owning your own practice. The group meets on the 4th Saturday of each month from 9:30am-11am via Zoom (except in June, July, November and December, when the committee does not meet) and sometimes hosts external speakers on a variety of educational topics including insurance, billing, fee setting, marketing, legal business organization, and bookkeeping, as well as providing mutual support amongst group members to discuss setting up and maintaining your private practice. Pre-contemplative, new, and seasoned private practice social workers are welcome. This group is only for NASW Members (membership is required to participate).

If you are an active NASW Member and would like to join the email distribution list for this committee contact the Chapter Office with your request.
