This committee aims to organize social workers at all stages of their learning and career across the state of Colorado to dismantle barriers to resources and opportunities in society so that all individuals and communities can live full and dignified lives through direct and collective action.

The committee is group-led and encourages brave conversations to guide our goals. We are looking for members who can dedicate time each month to identify issues in the social work field and work toward outlining goals and strategies to address these issues. If you want to work towards rooting anti-oppression and anti-racist work in your practice and create change at the state level, please join us!

Monthly Office Hours with Chapter Leadership

The NASW Colorado Chapter hosts virtual office hours with Executive Director Leanne Rupp, MSW, LCSW and NASW-CO Board President Dr. Amanda Marsh Baranski, LCSW every 2nd Thursday of the month, from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm MT. This is a wonderful opportunity for social workers across the state to connect with the Chapter, stay updated on the latest news and developments, ask questions, and share their thoughts and concerns. These monthly office hours are FREE TO ATTEND & OPEN TO ALL. Registration is required. 

Practice Standards Committee

Location: Virtual via Zoom

The purpose of the Committee on Practice Standards is to examine areas of all social work practice and develop guidelines of ethical conduct. This committee does not function in lieu of the NASW-CO Ethics Committee, but rather in addition to such a committee. The Committee on Practice Standards focuses on areas in which standards of practice have not been developed, as well as areas where questions may have come forth regarding unclear interpretations of existing standards. The committee may issue advisory opinions regarding the practice of social work.

Legislative Committee Meeting

The Legislative Committee reviews policy issues that deserve the attention of legislators and other officials, and develops a set of legislative priorities for the Chapter on an annual basis. Depending on the issues and opportunities at hand, members may provide testimony to legislative committees, help to draft proposed legislation, or monitor current bills and outcomes for the chapter.

Members are encouraged to join our Legislative Committee meetings. During the legislative season (January to May) the Committee meets the first and third Wednesdays from Noon - 1pm virtually via Zoom (all meetings are currently virtual due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic). Outside of the legislative season the Committee generally meets 1x/month (on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from noon-1pm via Zoom) in the Fall from August-December in order to prepare for the upcoming Legislative Session.
